GM working to revive
Malibu midsize sedan
GM is working hard to revive the Chevrolet
Malibu with better technology inside and new styling outside.
The midsize sedan is one of
the hottest segments in the market right now and GM’s entry — the Chevrolet Malibu — is on the tepid side compared to the competition.
That’s why, according to a
report from Automotive
News, GM is working on breathing life into the Malibu once again with a
clean sheet.
GM global design chief Ed
Welburn says the next Malibu’s calling card will be its styling in a bid to
“make a significant statement” and regain sales from its more stylish
counterparts.
Other details on the Malibu
are sparse, but GM CEO Mark Reuss reportedly showed the design of the upcoming
generation last October to investors during a presentation, promising
“groundbreaking design” with “groundbreaking technology.”
Given the current Malibu
was refreshed for the 2014 model year, expect to see the new sedan by the first
part of 2016 at the latest.
