2014 Chevy Silverado vs. GMC Sierra
A number of voices have expressed a sense of
curiosity over General Motors’ decision to enter two trucks into one of
America’s most highly competitive automotive segments. Of course, both
Chevrolet and GMC exist under the General Motors umbrella—with Silverado and
Sierra representing each automaker’s primary pickup truck efforts.
Despite the fact that Silverado and Sierra
feature many of the same mechanical components, comparing the 2014
Chevy Silverado vs. GMC Sierra can still yield meaningful results.
Both trucks are built around hard-working drivetrains that simultaneously
deliver best-in-class V8 fuel economy. Yet—like any good product built with a
purpose—both Silverado and Sierra exhibit unique flares of individual character
and identity. For example, the data above shows that Silverado generally
represents a better value than GMC Sierra. This quality is part of Silverado’s
character and overall appeal. Whereas the GMC Sierra is often concerned with
minor cosmetic features that increase the cost of the vehicle, the 2014 Chevy
Silverado is concerned with doing it all that it can to get the job done.
Chevy Silverado vs. GMC Sierra
One of the most telling events that
illustrates Silverado’s superior character is the pickup’s selection as the
2014 North American Truck of the Year. Though Silverado and Sierra both feature
the same high-powered drivetrain options, Chevrolet’s identity as an automaker
for the everyday driver earned Silverado the distinction as the continent’s
representative pickup truck. The jury of journalists comparing the 2014 Chevy
Silverado vs. GMC Sierra and the rest of the competition got it right with
respect to the year’s best pickup option.
