The
refreshed 2016 GMC Terrain is making its debut at the 2015 New York
International Auto Show. The new Terrain gains some minor exterior tweaks and
will continue to come in four trim levels, including the more upmarket Denali
model. Powertrain choices are unchanged from the pre-face-lifted Terrain and
include a 182-hp, 2.4-liter I-4 and a 301-hp, 3.6-liter V-6. Front-wheel drive
is standard, and all-wheel drive remains available in all but the SL trim
level. The available safety aids have been expanded throughout the Terrain
lineup, with side blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert now optional in
the SLE and SLT models.
Exterior
changes include chrome-accented grilles in the SLE, SLT, and Denali grades, LED
daytime running lights on higher trim levels, a power dome hood design, and
revised front and rear fascia with chrome accents. New 18- and 19-inch wheel
designs have also been added, depending on the trim. Two additional exterior
colors, White Frost Tricoat and Crimson Red Tintcoat, are new for 2016.
The 2016
Terrain also gains a new instrument panel, a storage shelf in the center stack,
and new upholstery choices, such as Saddle Up leather in the SLT grade and
two-tone light titanium and black leather for the Denali. SL and SLE models
make do with cloth upholstery standard. SLT-grade Terrains are now available
with an eight-way power adjustable passenger seat, and a chrome-trimmed
transmission shifter has been added to all models. GMC's IntelliLink
infotainment system remains available and can be upgraded with 4G LTE
connection for an extra cost after the three-month/3GB trial has ended.
Pricing has
yet to be announced for the 2016 GMC Terrain, but the crossover will go on sale
this fall.
